|Amanda Debich is a Staff Research Associate in the Marine Physical Laboratory at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biology at Western Kentucky University and completed her Master’s degree in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation at Scripps, focusing her capstone/thesis work on cetaceans in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. Amanda brings to the lab research experience from several types of platforms including fieldwork from small and large vessels focusing on a variety of cetaceans. Her particular interests lie within the use of acoustics to learn about cetaceans in remote areas and the application of acoustics to marine mammal management.|

Oceanography. He has a B.A. in Mathematics, and a B.S. in Physics from
UCSD, and worked for UCSD High Energy Physics group before coming to SIO. Currently he is working on automated batch detectors for
bioacoustic signals, as well as automated species classifiers. His
additional interests include: real time tracking and tagging using
visual observation, towed arrays, and sonobouys. To clear his head he
often escapes the lab for short periods to go skateboarding along the
